Sharing an experience

La Surprise values sharing and interaction. If you wish, Louis and Constantin will be happy to involve you in trimming sails, manoeuvring and mooring, and even watches on night sails! You are a part of the amazing La Surprise cruise from Asia to the Brazilian coast and the adventure is best enjoyed if we work together to make it special.

Respecting the Sea Environment

Consistent with our general awareness of the marine environment, we urge you take care of the flora and fauna you encounter.

Being able to interact with rays, turtles, whales and other creatures is a wonderful experience and we hope that you will enjoy marvelling at them while maintaining enough distance with these wild animals.

The ecosystems we will discover on this cruise are some of the most diverse in the world, but also the most fragile. We advise you to use mineral sun blocks on board, instead of chemical ones, to protect the coral reefs.

The cleaning products we use in the galley or in the engine bay are, of course, biodegradable.

Targeting Zero Waste

Recreating basic comfort when we live on the ocean makes us more aware of our consumption of fresh water, electricity, production of waste and also the pollution we encounter as we clock up the miles, even in the most remote locations.

In this context, we try to take action on a scale we can achieve.

When we choose food and cook it, we limit the amount of plastic waste as much as possible to achieve our goal of zero plastic waste on board.

Our chef also makes her own bottled preserves, i.e. when fish catches are particularly plentiful, thereby avoiding waste.
